New Delhi. There is good news for the users of the government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The users of the company will also get the facility of high speed internet. There are reports that the company will launch 5G service by the end of 2025.
According to a report by Moneycontrol, the company plans to launch 5G services in 6 to 8 months after completing its 4G rollout by March 2025. It is said to be eyeing a customer market share target of 25 per cent by the end of 2025.
Airtel and Jio are providing 5G coverage all over India
Currently, only Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio offer 5G coverage across India with 9 crore and 10.8 crore subscribers respectively. Vodafone Idea has said it is in the process of ordering equipment from different vendors. All three telecom operators hiked their tariffs in early July, increasing prices by 10 to 27 per cent.
2.5 lakh customers ported their numbers to BSNL
Moneycontrol quoted an anonymous official as saying that within 15 days of the tariff hike, 2.5 lakh customers have ported from other telecom companies to BSNL. BSNL still offers affordable mobile tariffs for low-income customers.
BSNL’s 4G-5G USIM service will be started
BSNL also announced on August 6 that it will introduce ‘Over-the-Air’ (OTA) and Universal SIM (USIM) platforms that work on 4G and 5G. This will allow customers to choose their mobile number as well as change SIMs without any geographical restrictions.
