Dr. Ravi Malik shared the nutritional rules of age-growth for infants and children, which all mothers should follow.
As long as a child is born until the early years of development, the breast plays an important role in the necessary nutrition. But how long should you breastfeed your baby? Is it safe for a child to consume cow’s milk? Dr. Ravi Malik further shared the guidelines of consumption of breastmillk and cow’s milk, after which all parents should be followed:
For infants (less than 1 year):
Breastfeeding is paramount. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life as an ideal source of nutrition. Breast milk provides all essential nutrients and is important for healthy growth and development. No cow’s milk for infants under 1 year of age due to potential digestive issues and deficiencies of nutrients (eg iron). If the breast milk is unavailable, Iron-Fortified baby formula is a suitable option. About 6 months, supplements should be introduced with breast milk, but not as replacement.
For Toddlers (1-2 years):
Breastfeeding can be continued for 2 years or even more than 1 year, as desired mutually desired by mother and child. After the first birthday of a child, the pasteurized whole cow’s milk can be introduced as a drink, with other nutrients rich in nutrients. It is important to moderate cow’s milk intake in toddlers because excessive consumption can interfere with iron absorption, possibly leading to iron deficient anemia. For children over 2 years old:
Cow milk (low fat or skim milk) can become part of a healthy diet, which provides valuable calcium, vitamin D and protein for growing children. Emphasize a diverse diet rich in fruits, vegetables, grains and protein sources to ensure adequate intake of all essential nutrients.

Milk based on other plants should be carefully evaluated, for their nutritional materials, especially about fortifications with protein, fat and calcium and vitamin D.
- Avoid sugars drinks: Despite the choice of milk, parents should avoid offering tasted milk, soda and juice for children.
