Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Thursday extended his support to the students demanding cancellation of the recently held Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination.
Speaking to reporters here, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Paswan condemned the lathicharge on protesters and urged the Nitish Kumar government to adopt an open approach for talks.
He said, “I am not at all in favor of lathi charge on students. Whatever the students say should be listened to seriously and their genuine demands should be accepted. Paswan said, “The door of dialogue should always be open for students.”
The minister’s comments came amid protests by BPSC aspirants in Patna, who were demanding a meeting with Kumar over alleged irregularities in the December 13 examination.
While the government has denied allegations of paper leak, it has ordered re-examination for over 12,000 candidates who appeared at a center here.
Meanwhile, the health condition of Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor, who has been on a hunger strike since January 2 in support of the protesting BPSC candidates, improved on Thursday and was admitted to Medanta Hospital on Tuesday.
According to a party statement, after Kishor’s condition improved, he was taken out of the ICU and taken to the isolation ward.
Despite better health, party leaders claimed that Kishor (47) is still suffering from pneumonia and kidney stones.
Addressing a press conference, party vice-president Lallan urged the Bihar CM to respond to Kishor’s demands, saying, “We are not asking the CM to meet Jan Suraj’s delegation. We are requesting him to talk to a delegation of students. This will benefit the youth of the state and ensure their well-being.”
Senior Jan Suraj Party member, former Assam-cadre IPS officer Anand Mishra echoed Lalan’s sentiments, saying, “Even in militancy-hit areas, governments talk to militants. Who stops the Bihar Chief Minister from interacting with students?” Jan Suraj Party working president Manoj Bharti rejected the government’s claim that the December 13 exam should not be canceled in the absence of evidence of question paper leak. Could.
“Re-examination has already been conducted for the candidates appointed at Bapu Examination Complex, affecting around 12,000 candidates. If everything was fine then BPSC would not have ordered re-examination. However, it is unfair to re-examine only the selected group of candidates. It is not an exam like NEET for medical admission; This determines government employment,” Bharti argued.
Addressing the press conference, party-affiliated lawyer Kumar Amit presented what he claimed was a certified copy of the court order granting bail to Kishore.
Highlighting the irony of the charges against Kishor, Amit said, “The sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) imposed on him include ‘rioting with deadly weapons’ when even a stick was not found in his or her supporters’ possession. Not found.”
