Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah approached the Supreme Court on 14 May, challenging the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, who directed the registration of an FIR against him.
The order was issued in response to Shah’s comment about Indian Army officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who informed the media about Operation Sindoor against Pakistan.

On Wednesday, an FIR was lodged against him under sections 152, 196 (1) (B) and 197 (1) (C) of the Indian Joint Code (BNS) following the High Court order.
The office of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had said on X, “Following the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the Chief Minister has directed to take action about the statement of Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah.”

According to a report by bar and bench, the Madhya Pradesh High Court took a motu case against BJP minister Kunwar Vijay Shah. In its comments, the High Court said, “The court has investigated the P12 of the FIR, which must underline it to connect the elements of the crime with the functions of the accused. The FIR is brief and there is not a single reference to any conduct by the suspect that will meet the norms of the charged offenses.”
