The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said it has appointed Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya as a central observer for the election of the legislature party leader in Bihar.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and former Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti have been made co-observers.
“The Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya as the central observer for the election of the legislature party leader in Bihar,” BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said in a statement.
JD(U) leaders meet Amit Shah, Nadda
Before the formation of the new government in Bihar, JDU leaders Sanjay Jha and Lalan Singh held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi. The formation of the new NDA government was formally inaugurated on Monday by Chief Minister N.Dhakka Kumar Met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and recommended dissolution of the outgoing assembly, with effect from November 19.
JDU supremo Kumar is scheduled to meet the Governor once again on Wednesday to tender his resignation and submit letters of support signed by all other parties within the NDA alliance.
JD(U) sources told PTI It is expected that Kumar will be elected the leader of the legislature party on November 19. The next day, he is scheduled to take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record tenth time during a ceremony at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Other ministers of the new cabinet are also expected to take oath during the program.

Last week, the ruling NDA swept the Bihar Assembly elections with a massive majority, securing 202 seats in the 243-member House, defeating the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ – the main opposition grand alliance.
BJP emerged as the largest party by winning 89 seats. Its alliance partner, JD(U), won 85 seats, while Union minister Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) secured 19 seats.
Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) led by former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi won five seats and Rashtriya Lok Morcha led by Upendra Kushwaha won four seats.
In contrast, the Grand Alliance managed to win only 34 seats. Within this alliance, RJD won 25 seats, Congress won six seats, CPI(ML) Liberation won two seats and CPI(M) won one seat.
