In a surprising turn of events, an IAS officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat was subjected to a bulldozing operation after he was served a fake water bottle during a visit to a police post. The incident came to light when Baghpat District Magistrate (DM) Jitendra Pratap Singh was served a 500 ml bottle labeled ‘Bilseri’ – a counterfeit version of ‘Bisleri’.
Thousands of fake branded water bottles were seized and destroyed by the authorities after an investigation into the matter was ordered. Let’s take a look at this incident and who is DM Jitendra Pratap Singh who took such a bold decision.
Baghpat DM Jitendra Pratap Singh was accompanied by Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpit Vijayvargiya. The DM’s eyes fell on the suspicious bottle kept in front. Upon closer inspection, he found that it lacked the required food license number. The DM immediately directed the Assistant Food Safety Commissioner to investigate the matter. Investigation revealed that the water bottles were purchased from a shop in Gauripur. Further investigation revealed that Bhim Singh, a resident of Gauripur, was running an illegal storage facility from his house, which was distributing fake water bottles to various shops across the district.
The name of DM of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh is Jitendra Pratap Singh. Before this, Jitendra Pratap Singh used to be the DM of Deoria. He is a resident of Farrukhabad. He is an MA graduate and was selected as PCS officer in the State Administrative Services Examination through UPPSC in 2013. Six years later, he was promoted to the rank of IAS. From 28 April 2017 to 12 July 2019, Jitendra Pratap Singh held the post of Additional Director in Mandi Parishad, Lucknow.
After this he was appointed to the post of Director, State Agricultural Produce Market Council, Lucknow from 12 July 2019 to 2 March 2021. After this he was made DM of Kanpur Dehat, where he remained on this post till 14 April. 2022. After this he was transferred to Deoria, where he remained posted as DM till June 2, 2023. From here he was transferred to Baghpat, where he is still posted.
