Patna. Two new high speed super corridors are going to be built connecting Bihar, UP and Jharkhand. These will connect North East to Bihar and UP. This will make it easier to go to North East. Construction of these expressways will save both time and money. Both these high speed corridors have been approved under the Bharat Mala 2A scheme.
The central government has approved two high-speed corridors passing through Bihar. The central government has approved a total of 12 high-speed corridors in the country under the Bharatmala 2A scheme. Out of these, two corridors will pass through Bihar. The construction of about 367 km of Raxaul-Haldia high-speed corridor and about 416 km of Gorakhpur-Kishanganj high-speed corridor is going to start.
NHAI aims to construct 100 km
Earlier, under the Bharatmala-2A scheme approved by the central government, a 170 km long section of National Highway 319B Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway is going to pass through Bihar. The work of land acquisition for these two corridors will start soon. This year, a target of at least 100 km construction has been given to NHAI.
The car will run at a speed of 120 km
The first corridor Raxaul Haldia Port Expressway will pass through Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The second corridor Gorakhpur-Kishanganj-Siliguri Expressway will pass through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. For the first time in Bihar, the way has been cleared for the construction of an access controlled expressway which will be surrounded by thorns on both sides like the Purvanchal Expressway of Uttar Pradesh. The average speed on the expressway will be 100-120 km per hour.
The express will pass through these districts –
The first high speed corridor “Raxaul-Haldia Port”, its total length is 719 km. Its 367 km route will be in Bihar. The total cost on this is Rs 20,000 crore. This expressway will pass through East Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jamui and Banka. This will reduce the distance of Haldia Port from the Nepal border by 22 percent. People will get new employment opportunities along with economic, industrial development in the entire area.
Easy connectivity to North East
The total length of the second high speed corridor Gorakhpur-Siliguri is 521 km. It will be 416 km in Bihar. A total of Rs 23,000 crore will be spent on this. This expressway will pass through West Champaran, East Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj districts. With its construction, all the 8 states including the eastern region of the country, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal will get connectivity with the northern and central regions. 50% time will be saved between Gorakhpur and Siliguri.
