Days before the Bihar Assembly elections, three Congress candidates and one Vikassheel Insaan Party candidate withdrew their nominations to support their ally RJD, ANI reported.
Congress candidate from Warsaliganj, Satish Kumar withdrew his name in favor of RJD’s Anita. Aditya Kumar from Lalganj also came out in support of RJD’s Shivani Shukla.
Vikassheel Insaan Party’s Bindu Gulab Yadav from Babubarhi withdrew to support RJD’s Arun Kumar Singh. Congress candidate from Pranpur, Tauqeer Alam, also withdrew his name, supporting RJD’s Ishrat Parveen.
Elections to the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, the results of which will be declared on November 14.
Meanwhile, PTI, citing sources, reported that there are some seats where the India Bloc constituents are ready to pit against each other due to the internal discord between the Congress, RJD and the Left over the seat-sharing arrangement.
“These assembly constituencies include Narkatiaganj, Vaishali, Rajapakar, Rosera, Bachhwara, Kahalgaon, Biharsharif and Sikandra,” sources told PTI.
Bihar Congress spokesperson Asit Tiwari told PTI, “Congress has always followed the coalition dharma… I must say that RJD and Left parties have fielded their candidates after Congress had already declared the list of all its candidates.”
There will be a contest between the NDA and the Grand Alliance in the 2025 Bihar elections. The NDA includes Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal-led grand alliance includes the Congress Party, Dipankar Bhattacharya-led Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Mukesh Sahni’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).
Earlier in the day, the grand alliance announced RJD leader and Bihar leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate for its alliance.
While making the announcement, Ashok Gehlot said that Tejashwi Yadav is a young leader with a bright future.
However, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary accused RJD of fielding candidates against Congress and other alliance partners to create “pressure to accept Tejashwi as the CM face”.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Choudhary said, “Lalu Yadav declared himself the CM face of the Grand Alliance by committing hooliganism and torturing Congress and other parties by fielding candidates against them, in the same way he had spread ‘Jungle Raj’ in Bihar.”

Apart from this, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj has claimed all the 243 seats in the state.
