The Odisha government on Sunday announced summer holidays for school students from April 25 in view of the extreme heat conditions in the state.
In a press statement, the state government said that all schools, including government, government-aided and private, will remain closed from April 25.

The government has also announced to hold classes in schools from 6.30 am to 10.30 am for three days from April 22 to April 24.
Earlier, closure of all schools in the state was ordered for three days from April 18 to 20 following extreme heat conditions in the state during which the temperature in the state rose above 45 degrees Celsius.

The highest temperature of 43.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jharsuguda and Keonjhar towns of the state till 2:30 pm on Sunday.
Six other places recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
They were Hirakud (41.8), Rourkela (41.8), Sambalpur (41.7), Bhubaneswar (41.6), Chandbali (41.6) and Balasore (40.5), IMD scientist Umashankar Das said.
