Big decision on airport security, passengers’ views will be heard, CISF-IQCU will help

Airport News: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has taken a big decision to make the airport security impenetrable as well as passenger friendly. Under the decision, now all the airports in the country will have the same security arrangements, whether they are airports under the protection of CISF, or RCS (regional connectivity scheme) airports under the control of the state police.

As part of the decision, CISF has also created an Internal Quality Control Unit (IQCU) at the Airport Sector Headquarters. This control center will be commanded by a senior CISF officer, who will work closely with Certified Aviation Security (AVSEC) Instructor, National Auditor and experienced people in this field. Mainly five types of work will be done through this control.

CISF DIG Intelligence Deepak Verma said that the five types of work done from the control center include standardization of procedure, technology advancement, internal audit, quality control monitoring and feedback analysis. Under standardization of procedure, it will be ensured that there is uniform security arrangement at all the airports of the country. All security personnel should get better training and they should be evaluated from time to time.

Also, the second biggest priority of the control unit would be to reach the airport the replicated technologies which are being used in different airports of the world. Apart from this, IQCU will also conduct internal audit from time to time as per the guidelines prescribed by International Civil Aviation Organization and BCAS, so that the shortcomings in the system can be removed in time.

According to DIG Deepak Verma, CISF will ensure world class aviation security at all the airports of the country through the Internal Quality Control Unit (IQCU). The control unit will ensure that the National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Program 2024 and Aircraft (Security) Rules 2023 issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Securities are properly followed at all airports.

He said that IQCU will be a part of Aviation Security Control Center (ASCC) and will work in collaboration with Incident Management Centre, Aviation Research and Data Centre, Centralized Communication Control Centre, so that the current security challenges can be faced. This system will also be equally applicable to the airports covered under the Regional Connectivity Scheme.
