The process of submission of marks for all subjects of Secondary Examination will be done online, in addition to the existing method of submission of marks through OMR marksheet.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has asked all the chief examiners of the answer sheets of the recently concluded Class 10 board examinations to submit the marks online. The board said the move is aimed at complete digitization of the examination and evaluation process to ensure transparency and fairness.
The process of submitting marks for all subjects of the secondary examination will be done online in addition to the existing method of submitting marks through OMR mark sheets, a board official said on Thursday. He said, although the board had started partial online verification since last year, this is a step forward with the intention of streamlining the submission process and increasing efficiency.
“We understand that transitioning to a new system may present challenges, which is why it is encouraged to seek assistance from investigators. Board President Ramanuj Ganguly said, you can get the support of 4-5 inquisitors who can help in effectively completing the online marks submission process in a reasonable time. He said that to familiarize the Chief Examiners with the process of online marks submission, a detailed video demonstration will be shared with them and the link to access the video will be communicated to them through SMS.
In a message to chief examiners, the board said, “Please watch the video carefully to understand the steps involved in uploading marks online.” Another official of the Board said, “As an appreciation of the effort of the examiners in adopting the new system, a consolidated honorarium of Rs 500 each will be given by the Board at the time of payment of remuneration to the Principal Examiners, provided that the marks are submitted online. The work has been completed.” The date of publication of results is not known yet.
It is estimated that 8.76 lakh candidates wrote their papers across the state from February 2 to 12.
