New Delhi. If you have smart machines for cutting grass in your house, then be careful. In fact, your cyber security can also be breached through a smart garden mower. This has been revealed in a research. According to VPN service provider ZenShield, your device can be hacked using the lawnmower software that powers smart devices.
Researchers said, “Smart machines that cut grass in your garden become a part of the Internet-connected devices, Internet of Things (IoT). “The devices providing these facilities also open the way for infiltration into sensitive devices.”

Weekly about 12 thousand hacking attempts
A recent study revealed approximately 12,000 hacking attempts weekly in homes with smart devices, including garden mowers. “It’s a strange world where your lawn mower device can become an entry point for a ransomware attack,” said Stephen Black, technology expert at GenShield.
Interest in finding weak points in home network
In the research, a fake smart home was created, which had many types of smart devices, which were connected to the internet. Hackers attempted to break into devices 14 times per hour. “These criminals aren’t really interested in messing with your lawnmower,” Black said. “They are very interested in finding weak points in your home network that they can exploit.”
According to researchers, Internet of Things devices are popular among cyber criminals for many reasons, due to which they can easily break into them. Researchers have suggested several steps to secure your Internet of Things devices, such as changing default settings and regular software updates.
