New Delhi: A new government has been formed in Bangladesh. Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus took over the reins of Bangladesh as the chief of the interim government. Till now, the reins of Bangladesh were in the hands of India’s friend Sheikh Hasina. But now the government has changed in Bangladesh. It will not be a surprise if the attitude also changes. Even though Mohammad Yunus is taking over the reins of Bangladesh, the army is running the government from behind the scenes. Mohammad Yunus is considered to be a bitter critic and opponent of Sheikh Hasina. In such a situation, there is a possibility that Bangladesh’s relations with India may not be the same as before. But all this depends on Bangladesh. However, the reality is also that Bangladesh cannot afford to be hostile towards India even if it wants to.
Why Bangladesh will not bear enmity with India
Now let us know why Bangladesh cannot afford to be hostile towards India. There are many reasons for this, but the biggest reason is that it is because of us that the world of Bangladesh is bright today. India supplies a large part of electricity to Bangladesh. For this, plants have been set up by India there. Along with this, electricity is also sent from here. Yes, if we do not supply electricity, then the light of Bangladesh will go off. Bangladesh gets electricity because of India. For this, it has an agreement with Indian companies. In India, Adani Power Limited Company mainly supplies electricity to Bangladesh. Adani Power Limited has a power purchased agreement with Bangladesh Power Development Board. This agreement was made in 2023. Under this, Bangladesh is getting electricity.
How much electricity do we get from Jharkhand?
Now if Bangladesh tries to show its strength to India by getting influenced by China, then it may have to face the consequences. If India stops the supply of electricity, there will be chaos in the whole of Bangladesh. The electricity that Bangladesh is currently getting from India is coming from Adani’s thermal power plant located in Jharkhand. Bangladesh’s electricity is being lit by the Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant located in Godda, Jharkhand. 1496 MW of electricity is supplied to Bangladesh from this plant. Only then Bangladesh’s needs are met.
NTPC has set up a power plant
There has been so much uproar in Bangladesh, but India has not caused any hindrance in the power supply. Bangladesh buys electricity from India for its needs. Adani Power Limited itself said that the power supply will continue amidst the uproar in Bangladesh. But now if Bangladesh’s relations with India deteriorate, the company can end the deal. Not only this, NTPC has set up a 1320 MW power plant to meet the electricity needs in Bangladesh. Let us tell you that Bangladesh’s former PM Sheikh Hasina is currently in India.
