Bajaj Auto has announced to resume the supply for its popular electric scooters, chesters at all dealerships in India. An important component in EV manufacturing was temporarily affected due to the global deficiency of rare earth magnets.
The company confirmed that production and shipments were recommended on August 20, before the initial time -line, a sharp return to the full scale operation was marked. Bajaj has also achieved adequate supply of rare earth magnets and other major materials to ensure smooth availability during the upcoming festive season.
Speaking on development, Eric Vas, president of Bajaj Auto’s Urbanite Business Unit, thanked the customers for his patience and confirmed the brand commitment to quality and reliability. He said, “Chetak’s demand remains strong, supply has become normal and delivery against booking has started. We are increasing production to meet the growing demand while staying right for our standards of quality and customer happiness,” he said.
Seeing the speed of the Chatak strong market, with the reporting of Bajaj Auto that the scooter has doubled its market share from April last year. The brand closed FY25 as the No. 1 electric scooter in India, outlining the Customer Trust at Bajaj’s Electric Mobility Solutions.
Demand for restoration and celebration around the corner with supply, Bajaj Auto is aiming to further strengthen the leadership of Chetak in India’s rapidly growing electric two-wheeler segment.

What are rare earth magnets?
They are powerful permanent magnets made of rare earth elements. These magnets are widely used in EVS (including scooters), wind turbines and electric motors for electronics.

Bajaj Auto has introduced the new Cheetak 3001 electric scooter, which is priced 1 lakh (East-Shoreroom). This model now handles as the cheapest version in the range, replacing the first Chetak 2903. While its cost 1,500 more than its predecessor, 3001 The latest western 35 series is built on the platform, which brings a modified frame, a large battery, better range and coupled features.
One of the major updates is a floorboard-mounted battery, a change that increases stability, frees extra storage, and reduces the center of gravity of the scooter. The 3001 houses have a 3.0 kwh battery pack (2903 compared to 2.9 kwh unit) and 127 km at a distance of 123 km at a distance of 127 km. In addition, the scooter now offers a large 35-liter under-seat boot for better practicality.
Charging is controlled by a 750-watt fast charger, which is capable of re-filling the battery from 0–80% in 3 hours and 50 minutes.
The new Bajaj Chetak 3001 will compete against the base variants of TVS Ecwe, Ather Rizta, Ola S1, and much more.
