AXIOM-4 (AX-4) Mission to the International Space Station (ISS), which includes the Indian Gaganatri Shubhanshu Shukla, and was believed to be up on June 10, now it has been pushed on 11 June due to adverse weather conditions, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced on Monday.
The crew of the mission includes India’s Indian Air Force pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, along with three other crew members.
The AXIOM-4 mission was to be launched from LC-39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on June 10 at 8.22 am.
ISRO Chairman confirms the delay
Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO, Secretary of Space Department and Chairman of Space Commission, confirmed the postponement through a post through ISRO’s X account.
“Due to the weather conditions, the launch of Axiom-4 mission has been postponed from 10 June 2025 to 11 June 2025 to send Indian Gaganratri to the international space station,” it is written in the post.
Jitendra Singh posted about the development of Axiom
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh also posted about the adjournment of the Axiom-4 mission.
“Due to the unfavorable weather, the launch of the Axiom-4 mission carrying the Indian Gaganati at the international space station is probably re-determined from June 10, 2025. Further updates, if any, will be shared accordingly,” Dr. Jitendra Singh posted on X.
Axiom-4 mission; Shubhanshu shukla
Four decades later in 1984, ISRO astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla’s autonomous mission of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma joined a Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
Group captain Shubanshu Shukla is ready to become the second Indian in space and is the first to visit the International Space Station. He will pilot the Axiom Mission -4 prescribed to ride on the SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft on 11 June, along with Cruhmets from the US, Hungary and Poland.
Axiom 4 mission experiment
The Axiom-4 mission aims to complete 60 experiments with a four-member crew. These include seven experiments that are employed by ISRO and five others in which Shukla will participate as part of NASA’s human research program.
Additionally, Shukla will attend five associate studies organized by NASA for the same program.
