Oscar-nominated actor Austin Butler has opened up about his role as villainous Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in the upcoming film Dune: Part Two, which is set to be released in theaters on March 1.
Butler, 32, described her character as “ugly and bald” during a panel discussion for her new Apple TV+ miniseries Masters of the Air, which took place at New York’s 92nd Street Y on Wednesday.
Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen is the nephew of the evil Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, played by Stellan Skarsgård, and a cruel and violent adversary of the protagonist Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet.

Fayed-Routha Harkonen is ‘ugly and bald’
Butler’s transformation for the role has been so drastic that he is barely recognizable in the few glimpses that have surfaced so far. Butler told Josh Horowitz, who interviewed her at the event for a live recording of his Happy Sad Confused podcast, that she based her performance on “animals like snakes and sharks”.
He also said he had done some research on “some of the cultures that have arisen in cruelty through time.” Because that’s what I was trying to find – I didn’t want to make a caricature of it, but what does someone become when they’re born into cruelty? And to survive they have to resort to violence. Who becomes that person?” Horowitz joked, “He looks like a boyfriend.”
“Yes,” said the butler. “He’s ugly and bald.”
The Elvis star said he has seen Dune: Part Two, but did not share further details. Dune: Part Two is the sequel to the critically acclaimed adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi novel, directed by Denis Villeneuve.
