According to the most recent Campus Workforce Trends 2024 report by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP (Deloitte India), the country’s MBA graduate turnover rate is rising rapidly. According to the most recent survey, attrition rates for first-time students, college students, and those who leave within one or two years are 21%, 26%, and 28%, respectively. According to the report, there is cause for concern about the high percentage of top university students leaving entry-level positions.
According to recent research, attrition rates for students from tier-2 and tier-3 category schools are marginally lower at 19 per cent, 21% and 15 per cent, respectively. According to Deloitte India director Nilesh Gupta, the findings of this year’s report indicate that companies have to rethink their retention strategy, especially with regard to MBA graduates. He stressed that to retain top people in a tough market, creative techniques are no longer optional but necessary.
Call for greater hiring transparency
Citing research that shows four out of five executives would prefer to make hiring decisions based on talent, advancement and salary rather than experience or connections, Neelesh Gupta said the need to reduce bias and promote transparency is a must. He stressed that for students to succeed in the digital age, educational institutions must provide them with a wide range of capabilities.

According to the report, 70 per cent of organisations continue to look for MBA graduates, while this group of professionals has a high turnover rate, indicating the importance of MBA graduates to company performance. Data from around 500 campuses was examined and the report also revealed that the number of internship and pre-placement offers made by companies decreased by 10% and 26%, respectively.
The best cities for MBA graduates are Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.
According to the survey, students seeking a management degree most frequently choose Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. However, the preferred cities for engineering students are Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Across the areas of management, engineering, law, pharmacy, hotel management and professional degrees (CA/CS), the Deloitte survey covered 508 campuses and 194 organisations. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings served as the basis for classifying the institutes according to the tiers.
