Former External Affairs and Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha on Sunday launched a new political party based on the ideology of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The political party in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand has been named ‘Atal Vichar Manch’.
Sinha said that since it is a political party, it is clear that Atal Vichar Manch will contest all the elections.
The party has been launched ahead of the Jharkhand assembly elections to be held later this year. The proposal to form a new party was discussed in a meeting held at the Atal Seva Kendra in Hazaribagh in August.
Sinha, who was a cabinet minister in the Vajpayee government, won the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat in 1998, 1999 and 2009. His stint was interrupted in 2004 when he lost to CPI candidate Bhuvaneshwar Mehta.
In 2014, the BJP fielded his elder son Jayant Sinha from the Hazaribagh seat. However, in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Manish Jaiswal replaced Jayant Sinha and Jaiswal won the seat by a margin of 2.76 lakh votes.
