Days after the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, the Association of Indian Universities on Wednesday suspended the membership of Al-Falah University in Faridabad with immediate effect, saying the institution does not appear to be in “good standing” as required under its bylaws.
The decision, communicated through an official letter on November 13, 2025, cited the university’s alleged involvement in media reports related to the terror case.
Citing its bylaws, the AIU said the action was taken because the institution “does not appear to be in good standing.”
“The membership of AIU granted to Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana is suspended with immediate effect,” AIU said in a statement.
The university came under national scrutiny after it was revealed that Red Fort blast prime suspect Dr. Omar un Nabi had links to the institute along with other accused persons Dr. Muzammil Ganai and Dr. Shaheen Saeed.
Following the suspension, Al-Falah University is barred from using the AIU name or logo in any of its operations and has been directed to immediately remove the logo from its official website.
“Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, is not authorized to use the name or logo of AIU in any of its activities, and the AIU logo should be immediately removed from the official website of the university,” the letter said.
Earlier on Thursday, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) had issued a show cause notice to Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Fatehpur, accusing it of falsely claiming NAAC accreditation for colleges run by the university.
Located about 27 km from the Delhi-Haryana border on Raga Road in Dhauj, Al-Falah University has attracted national attention in recent days after the Red Fort blast, which killed 12 people and injured dozens, and led to the recovery of a large quantity of explosives during the subsequent investigation.
