LXL Foundation presented the 7th edition of School Cinema International Film Festival (SCIFF). In Delhi, SCIFF was screened in around 3000 schools and was attended by over 10 lakh students.
Formerly known as International Children’s Film Festival (IKFF), this All India Film Festival is attended by over 8 million students from over 30,000 schools, including over 25,000 government schools, a press release said.
This year’s event screened over 80 films in 15+ languages from over 20 countries, showcasing diverse themes such as mental health, social justice, environmental awareness, and safety. These films were carefully crafted to address contemporary issues faced by students. The Student Filmmaking Competition is the third section of SCIFF, complementing the WATCH and LEARN sections. WATCH consisted of films submitted by global filmmakers for school screening, while LEARN offered workshops by industry experts to teach students the art of filmmaking.

“The massive turnout and appreciation for SCIFF 2024 is a testament to the growing importance of initiatives like ours in the educational landscape. As the festival continues to gain momentum year after year, it is clear that incorporating film into the curriculum is no longer a luxury – it is a necessity,” said Syed Sultan Ahmed, Festival Director, SCIFF 2024.
The press release informed that the jury of the festival comprised global experts: Aya Al-Blouchi, Ajyal Film Festival Programmer – Qatar; Pauline Mazenod, Head of Film Acquisitions – France; Dhimant Vyas, animator and professor at the Centre for Industrial Design, IIT Powai, Mumbai; Isabelle Morin, writer, screenwriter and composer; Nina Sabnani, animator and educator; Sayani Gupta, Indian actress; and Pinky Singh, Principal, Royal Concorde International, informed in the press release.
