Arjun Rampal, who plays the ruthless ISI Major in Dhurandhar, says he feels terrible doing certain things for his character.
even as While Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna may have received praise for Dhurandhar, Arjun Rampal has also earned praise for his performance as an ISI Major. The actor shed his glamorous looks to play the role of a ruthless ISI officer who plots terror operations from Pakistan. In a new interview, the actor discussed the challenges of portraying such a complex antagonist.
Arjun Rampal opens up on Dhurandhar role
In a new interview with Grazia, Arjun talks about playing the role of Major Iqbal in Aditya Dhar’s film. Arjun said, “I wanted to get out of the character as quickly as possible. One of the important reasons for doing so was that it is an important film. Seeing the events is one thing, but seeing those events happening behind the scenes is something that will excite me as an audience.”
The actor said he felt bad doing what his character looked like on screen, but said he took it as just another job. Arjun said, “I was feeling very bad when you were doing that because you love your country so much, but I think that’s the job of an actor and you just get immersed in it.”
Arjun’s character, Major Iqbal, plays an ISI officer in Dhurandhar, who is shown to be the handler for the 26/11 attackers. His role in the attacks on India and other terrorist attacks has created a lot of buzz for the film.

Dhurandhar is a spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar in which Ranveer plays an Indian spy in Pakistan. Akshaye Khanna plays a Pakistani gangster, Sanjay Dutt plays Karachi SP Chaudhary Aslam, and R Madhavan plays an Indian intelligence chief. Arjun will reprise his role in Dhurandhar 2, which concludes the story of Ranveer’s Hamza aka Jaskirat. Part 2 will release in theaters on March 19, 2026.
