External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday (May 15) that he had a “good conversation” with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Mutki, thanking him for condemning the Pahgam terror attack on 22 April.

Jaishankar posted on X (East Twitter), “Pahalgam appreciates his condemnation of terrorist attack.” “Through false and baseless reports, welcomed its firmness of recent efforts to create mistrust between India and Afghanistan.”

He said that both sides discussed future cooperation and confirmed India’s support for Afghan development.

The Afghan Consulate in Mumbai echoed the spirit, posting that the two ministers discussed the business, diplomatic relations and cooperation through the Chabahar port, along with matters such as visa facilities and release of Afghan prisoners in India.

‘Behavior with Pakistan will be strictly bilateral’

Speaking to reporters at the inauguration of the Honduras Embassy in Delhi, Jaishankar reiterated India’s long -standing policy on Pakistan.

He said, “Where Pakistan is concerned, our relationship, our behavior with them will be bilateral, and strictly bilateral,” he said. “This is a national consent for many years, and there is absolutely no change in that consensus that the behavior of Pakistan will be bilateral,” Jayashankar said.

He rejected any scope for talks with Pakistan outside the issue of terrorism: “Prime Minister Modi has made it very clear – will be on terrorism only with Pakistan.”

Indus Waters Treaty to continue suspension

Jaishankar also confirmed that the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) would remain until Pakistan ends its support for terrorism across the border.

He said, “The Cabinet Committee on security was very clear that the Indus Waters Treaty is organized and it will continue.” “This will remain until Pakistan tries reliably and irresponsibly and stops its support for cross -border terrorism.”

India suspended the World Bank-Brokede Treaty, a day after the Pahgam attack, as part of the wider set of punitive measures.

Operation vermilion and Pakistan vengeance

India started accurate attacks on terrorist hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) on 7 May as part of Operation Sindoor. These attacks targeted camps in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad and other places.

Pakistan responded to an attempt to attack Indian military establishments on 8, 9 and 10 May, which were counted by Indian forces.

Conflict conversation after achieving India’s goal

The EAM rejected the term “ceasefire”, saying that India prefers “inclusion of military action”, and clarified that New Delhi stopped only after fulfilling its objectives.

He said, “You say ceasefire, we end firing and military action. We achieved the goals that we set to do,” he said.

He revealed that India had already informed Pakistan that military targets were not the objectives: “We had sent a message to Pakistan, saying that we are attacking the terrorists infrastructure, we are not strike in the army, so there is an option to stand up to the army and not interfere in this process. They do not choose that good advice.”

Jaishankar said that the satellite imagery clearly shows the damage given by India and the minimum damage caused by Pakistan.

“These pictures will tell you what a hit they took, and the same people who were not to stand on 7 May, were ready to talk and stand on May 10. It is very clear who wanted the conclusion of the firing.”

Left only Kashmir issue: Pok Business

Strengthening India’s position on Kashmir, Jaishankar said: “Sometimes, Kashmir issue is brought. The only thing to be discussed on Kashmir is an illegal occupied Indian region’s holiday in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. We are open to discuss very clearly.”
