In 2022, Ranveer Singh’s nude photoshoot for an international magazine became a national issue. In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, actress Anu Aggarwal was asked about Ranveer’s Paper magazine photoshoot, which became the centre of a storm with several complaints filed against the actor. ‘Being topless in public is not everyone’s business’
When asked about the topless scene in the 1994 short film The Cloud Door, Anu Agarwal said in Hindi, “When I heard the script, it (the scene) was not part of the script. When asked to do a bold scene during the shooting, I refused. I was shocked, I said ‘what do you mean?’ The issue was not the scene, or that I couldn’t do it, the issue was that it was never part of the script and I was not informed about it beforehand… A month after the shoot was over, I started questioning myself for refusing the scene. Then I thought ‘it was unethical, they should have informed me while offering the script’. Being topless in public is not something everyone does, it’s a different thing… Eventually we shot the topless scene but I felt very bad how it all happened because people lack morals. I took it as a challenge, and my family, especially my mother, was very supportive… Being topless is not a big deal when we can show people hitting each other, hating each other in films.”
‘A man, an actor must be courageous’
When asked about Ranveer’s bold photoshoot for Paper magazine, Anu, best known for the 1990 film Aashiqui, said, “I think it’s all good. A man, an actor, should be courageous. I think we transcend our barriers as actors when we do such things… not just getting naked or being nude, but also crying openly in front of the camera.”

In July 2022, Ranveer made pop culture history by posing nude for Paper magazine and the reactions were quick to pour in – while some applauded his bold move, many others criticised his risqué photoshoot. Ranveer faced multiple police complaints for his alleged outrage of modesty.
