Growing old gracefully is not destiny. Instead, it is a choice. Dr. Saru Singh, a beauty consultant and physician who often shares skin care tips and tricks online, believes so. Dr Singh took to Instagram to share an anti-aging and anti-pigmentation routine for anyone over 30. He suggested a morning and night routine and promised that if one followed his routine diligently for six months, they would see changes in their skin.

An easy multi-step skin care routine for people over 30
In the clip titled “Let me create an anti-aging and anti-pigmentation routine for you”, Dr Singh has created a multi-step and easy skin care routine for anyone aged 30 and above. For a morning skin care routine, she suggests starting the day with a gentle cleanser and adding a vitamin C serum or anti-oxidant serum as the next step. Next, apply peptide serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Dr. Singh stressed on reapplying sunscreen every three to four hours even during the winter season.
As for the night routine, she advised netizens to always cleanse twice to ensure that their face is ‘absolutely clean’. “Look for something hydrating like hyaluronic acid if you have dry skin or something like niacinamide if you have oily skin,” she says. Then, follow it with a peptide-based serum.
“In the next step, use any anti-pigmentation cream or ointment that your dermatologist gives you. If not, you can choose either azelaic acid or kojic acid,” suggests Dr Singh. “And finally, layer a really good hydrating moisturizer, which is basically ceramides. When you do that, alternately, about three or two times a week, replace this kojic or azelaic acid with retinoids,” she adds.
Why is it important to have a good skin care routine?
According to Dr. Singh, by age 30 your skin slows down, and there’s a decline in collagen, slower cell turnover, dehydration, and environmental damage. However, adopting a healthy skin care routine can change everything.
- Decline in collagen: Leads to sagging and fine lines.
- Slow cell turnover: Causes dullness and uneven texture.
- Dehydration: A weak barrier means hydration is lost faster.
- Environmental damage: Sunspots, pigmentation and wrinkles from years of UV and pollution.
Dr. Singh also wrote some professional tips to follow when starting a routine. “Start retinoids slowly to avoid irritation, adjust the active ingredients according to your skin’s needs, and never skip sunscreen — it’s the ultimate anti-aging hero,” she suggests. She adds, “Skincare is not just about looking good; It’s all about protecting, nourishing and healing your skin. Your 30s are the best time to start. Trust me, you will thank you in the future.”
