What did Supriya Yarlagadda say
Yarlagadda then said how the streaming revolution has scope Indian storytellers to write more original ideas, which do not depend on stars or budgets, but on great characters. He said, “I have to say, perhaps we still desire to be on the big screen, which is why we have been a little behind in search of the series format. I think there is a Tamil story, Kannada story, Telugu story, Malayalam story and recently some successes (on OTT). But I think we are behind.”
‘Our time is now for digital’
She went to connect, “It’s not about trying to mount them on the stars, mount them with a big budget – we love what we used to do – but understanding that this game is very different. And for all writers, with all these beautiful stories, with all these beautiful stories, I think it is our time for digital.”
Sarpriya spoke as part of the panel in the digital age at the Evolution of Storytelling. The panel included a lineup including Ruchika Kapoor Sheikh (director, original Films, Netflix India), producer Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Tanya Bami (Series Head, Netflix India), Academy Award winning producer Guniot Monga and a lineup including acclaimed American director, screenwriter, and producer Michael Lehman.
