The story of Salim-Javed is set to unfold by August 20. The documentary series highlights the cinematic journey of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar.
The story of the original Angry Young Man of Hindi cinema is about to unfold for desi cinephiles. Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar will be among those narrating the story of legendary writer-lyricist duo Salim-Javed. The trailer of Angry Young Man released by Prime Video features Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar discussing their timeless cinematic legacy with their family and friends. Salman Khan, Zoya Akhtar praise Salim-Javed
The video begins with Salman saying, “This is the first film I am really nervous about.” The promo begins with Farhan saying, “I knew my dad wrote these films because he was my dad.” The trailer then shows Amitabh’s famous line from Deewar, where he says, “I still don’t pick up thrown money.” Talking about Salim-Javed, Zoya Akhtar says, “They did 24 films together, 22 of which were blockbusters. This has never happened before, I don’t think it will ever happen again.”
Salim jokes on camera, “After watching this, Hollywood should call me and say: ‘We lack stars.’” Aamir Khan expressed his thoughts about the writer duo and said, “Can you name a single writer today whose name alone attracts the audience?” Farhan’s friend Hrithik Roshan also said, “Anyone who has grown up watching their films has a bit of Salim-Javed in their blood.” Karan Johar praised the duo and called them the “hottest jodi”. Amitabh Bachchan says at the end of the video, “Them together was a different story.”
Shaban Azmi, Honey Irani and others also gave their praises for the series.

The three-part documentary series is jointly produced by Salman Khan’s Salman Khan Films, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s Tiger Baby Films. Namrata Rao, best known for her work as an editor on films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Ishqiya, Band Baaja Baaraat and Kahaani, is the director. Angry Young Men traces the journey of Salim-Javed through the revolutionary story of the duo, known for blockbusters like Zanjeer, Sholay and Deewar.
Angry Young Men will release on August 20.
