Rahul Gandhi and Senior Congress leadership clearly stated that the leader refrained against not saying anything against the party’s line in Kerala between the line. This step is important because it comes closer to a row’s heels on the recent comments of its MP Shashi Tharoor.
Sources close to Vikas told PTI, Rahul Gandhi that in a meeting to deliberately learn the strategy of the Congress in Kerala, the leaders should be very careful about the political strategy and should not do anything like that or should say nothing that does not to find the party line.
“I know that people are really emotional, they want a change, so we should be very careful about our political strategy and roadmap. We should not do anything against the party line or say, because doing so means that we are disrespecting the people of Kerala,” Rahul Gandhi was said to be in the meeting.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized discipline, ensured unity and filled the vacant positions to strengthen the party’s Kerala unit.
After the meeting, Kerala Deepa Dasmunshi’s AICC told reporters in charge, “This was a clear sign and if anyone says anything personally, we will take strong action. Because we have no right to insult the people of Kerala.”
How did Shashi Tharoor react?
Sources said that in the meeting, Shashi Tharoor insisted on strengthening the organization. The top brass of the party did not take any clarification from Tharoor on his recent comment as he had already made a clear on the matter and also stated that his comment in a Malayalam Podcast was incorrectly presented in the English translation.
Later, in a post on X, Tharoor said, “A good meeting of Kerala Congress leaders today ended in a strong confirmation of party unity with Congress President Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Deepa Dasmunshi as we are prominent in the election season.”
However, sources clarified that there was no discussion on any leadership change in Kerala before the election.
Assembly elections are to be held in Kerala in March-April next year. The Congress is the main opposition party in Kerala and is demanding the LDF to wrestle power.
