Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday accused the Vice Presidential candidate of India Block, justice (retired) of supporting “Naxalism”. Shah said that if the judge had not given the Salwa Judam decision, India would have got rid of the extremist left movement before 2020.
The Union Home Minister was speaking during the inauguration of the Manorama News Conclave organized by the Malayala Manorama Group in Kochi.
Amit Shah said that the Congress opportunity to win Kerala Assembly elections in 2026 has reduced further due to Sudarshan Reddy’s pick as VP Pick.
“Sudarson Reddy is the person who helped Naxalism. He gave the Salwa Judam decision. If the Salwa Judam decision was not given, Naxal terrorism must have ended by 2020. The person who was inspired by the Salwa Judam verdict,” Shah told about the 2011 SC decision.
What is Salwa Judam decision?
In December 2011, Justice Reddy of the Supreme Court ruled that to use tribal youth as special police officers – this ‘Koya Commandos’, Salwa Judam, or any other name – was Llegal and unconstitutional to fight the Maoist rebel. He also ordered that he be canceled immediately.
Shah further claimed that Kerala has taken the brunt of Naxalism.
The Home Minister said, “The people of Kerala will definitely see that the Congress party is fielding a candidate under pressure from leftist parties, who supported Naxalism and used a sacred platform like the Supreme Court.”
Who is B Sudarson Reddy?
B Sudershan Reddy started his career as a lawyer with Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in December 1971 as his vice -president of opposition India BLOC.
Meanwhile, the BJP has chosen Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakarshan as its pick for VP candidate.
