Alok Raj will remain on the post of Director General of Bihar Police till further instructions.
The Bihar government department on Friday, August 30, appointed Indian Police Service (IPS) Alok Raj as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar. According to reports, Alok Raj will serve as the Director General of Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Bihar Police. According to the notification, Alok Raj will continue to serve as the Director General of Bihar Police until further instructions.
Alok Raj will remain on the post of DGP till the assembly elections. He will remain the DGP of Bihar till the elections, as he will hold this post till 31 December 2025. Since Alok Raj is the most senior IPS officer in the state, his name has already been considered for the post of DGP.
Alok Raj: His journey
Bihar’s senior IPS Alok Raj was born on 15 December 1965. He was a 1989 batch IPS officer. He is the most senior IPS officer of the state. His ancestral home is in Neura of Saraiyan block of Muzaffarpur district. Whereas, currently his family lives in Kankarbagh, Patna. Alok Raj’s father-in-law has been the DGP of Bihar Police. Lalu Yadav’s father-in-law DN Sahay was the DGP during his rule.
Alok Raj: Passion for music
Alok Raj’s love for music is well known. Recently his songs went viral on social media. He once sang a song online which became very famous and was dedicated to Lord Shiva. Alok Raj is said to have made many albums. His song “Yeh Bhola Sabse Bada Hai” was well liked by the audience. After this, he told in an interview that he loved film tunes a lot during his high school and college days, but all this ended when he became an IPS on 20 August 1989. He told that the work and responsibilities given to police officers are difficult.
In an interview, he told that he had become so dedicated to his work that he had forgotten his passion for more than twenty-two years. However, in 2011 he started learning Hindustani classical music. His guru Ashok Kumar helped him start practicing music. He spent six years as an artist. After this, he released his first album Sai Rachna in 2017. After this, he sang ghazals from Dushyant Kumar’s album. Kabir bhajans sung by him were also put in an album.
In a previous interview, Alok Raj said that dealing with various issues throughout the day in the police force can be frustrating. In fact, according to him, all police officers have experienced stress. They often get agitated. But the only medium for them that can help them get more creative and reduce negativity in such a situation is art.
