Airport News: A very shocking incident has come to light from Chennai Airport. In this case, as soon as the officials of the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs looked inside the bag during the search, many officials present there got stunned. Actually, this whole case is related to the Wildlife (Protection) Act, in which a passenger coming from Chennai has been arrested.
According to a senior officer of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), the process of checking passengers of flights coming from sensitive sectors was going on at Chennai airport. Meanwhile, the AIU officers noticed a bag kept on a passenger’s baggage trolley. Seeing the activities happening in this bag, the AIU officers’ attention was focused on the passenger carrying this bag and the trolley.
He told that as soon as the passenger crossed the green channel, the AIU officers stopped him for investigation. During the investigation, when the bag was opened and looked inside, many officers present there were terrified to see the scene inside. After this, baby iguanas were taken out from the bag with utmost care. There were 402 baby iguanas of different colors inside the bag.
The Air Intelligence Unit has seized 402 baby iguanas from Chennai airport.
According to a senior officer of AIU, the baby iguanas recovered included 229 green baby iguanas, 113 orange baby iguanas, 53 blue baby iguanas and 7 yellow baby iguanas. He said that this passenger had arrived at Chennai airport from Bangkok. A case has been registered against this passenger under the Customs Act 1962 and Wildlife (Protection) Act and he has been arrested.

He said that the passenger arrested from Chennai airport has been identified as Atiq Ahmed. During investigation, it was found that out of 402 baby iguanas, 335 were alive, while 67 had died due to suffocation. It is worth mentioning that baby iguana is counted among foreign wildlife. It is known as American lizard.
