Phone may cause problems: If you are also going on an air journey in the coming days, then be a little cautious about your mobile phone. It may happen that your mobile phone becomes a source of trouble for you and you have to spend time behind bars. Yes, two similar cases have come to light recently at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, in which two passengers first missed their flight due to their mobile phones, then an FIR was registered against them and finally both were put behind the bars.
The first case is of a foreign passenger named Baldinger Rene of Swiss origin. He had reached IGI Airport to go to Zurich by Swiss Airlines flight LX-147. After completing the process of check-in, security and immigration check, he was waiting for his flight when he got a call from airport security. He is asked about his location over the phone. After a few minutes, the airport-airlines security staff reaches there and asks them to accompany them.
The phone that came out of the bag created trouble
The security staff takes them to the baggage make-up area. After reaching here, the security staff points towards the bag kept on the table and asks if this bag is yours. As soon as Waldinger nods his head in the affirmative, the security staff asks him to open the bag. When the bag is opened, a satellite phone is recovered from inside it. Documents related to this satellite phone were asked from Waldinger, but he did not have any document related to it. Therefore, he is taken into custody and handed over to IGI Airport Police.
Missed Moscow flight, FIR registered
The second case is related to Russian-born Elvir Sharafetdinov. Recently, Elvir had reached IGI Airport to go from Delhi to Moscow. During pre-embarkation security check, CISF recovered a satellite phone from his bag. He could neither give any satisfactory answer nor present any document regarding this phone. Due to which, he was taken into custody and handed over to IGI Airport Police. In both the cases related to satellite phones, IGI Airport Police has registered FIR under Section 42(3)(D) of The Telecommunication Act 2023.
