Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist, trained in AIIMS, Harvard and Stanford, share cum-podmap options for common fruits and vegetables that often trigger digestive discomfort in people with sensitive courage. In an Instagram video posted on 3 October, he suggests a simple food swap that is easier for the stomach to digest and gentle.

What is Fodmap?

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Fodmap is a brief name for fermented aligosaccharides, dysaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyoles – the type of small -series carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed into the small intestine. For some people, consuming high foods in fodmaps can cause digestive discomfort, causing symptoms such as cramps, swelling, gas, constipation, or diarrhea.

Swap apple for kiwi

Dr. Sethi has recommended to switch to the kiwi fruit, if apple causes blotting or gas. Kiwi is low in podmap material, and is good for intestine and digestive health.

Swap cherry for strawberries

Dr. According to Sethi, “If you eat cherry and they trigger intestinal issues, swap them for strawberries, a gentler, low podmap fruit.”

Swap ripe bananas for green bananas

Ripe bananas may be the cause, so the gastroenterologist suggests switching on a slightly green banana, which is a lower fodmap version.

Swap cauliflower for zucchini

Dr. According to Sethi, “If you eat cauliflower and it leads to swelling, swap it to Zachini, which is a low podmap vesger.”

The gastroenterologist suggested the swap of asparagus for Okra, which is easy to digest, if you are bloated in the east.
