A week after AIADMK and BJP re -awakened their alliance in Tamil Nadu, Edappi’s Palaniswami (EPS) on Wednesday indicated that both parties only joined hands for the election and not to form a coalition government.

On April 11, announcing an alliance between the two parties, Union Minister Amit Shah announced that the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly election would be fought under the leadership of AIADMK chief Edappi’s Palaniswamy.
During the press meat, Shah also assured that the NDA would get a large -scale majority and form the NDA government in Tamil Nadu. However, when Shah was asked if the NDA would form a coalition government for winning the 2026 elections in the state, he responded in confirmation.
ANI quoted the EPS as saying, “Only the election coalition will decide the power of the alliance. Without division, votes should be defeated by the enemy. We attempted to coordinate with the parties with the same ideas against the DMK.”
He further claimed that many other parties would join the AIADMK -BJP alliance to defeat DMK, saying, “First, the BJP came into our alliance. Very soon, many other parties will enter our AIADMK -BJP alliance.”
Meanwhile, so far, there is no official response from the Bharatiya Janata Party on EPS’s comment.
AIADMK and BJP revived their alliance after almost two years after attending in September 2023, allegedly on some of Annamlai’s comments about late party stallwarts, including Jayalalithaa, including Jayalalithaa.
Following the announcement of an alliance between the two parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the AIADMK’s decision to join the BJP -led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
