New Delhi. The demand for CNG vehicles is increasing in the market and Tata Motors also does not want to be left behind in this race. The company has introduced many of its models in CNG and now the name of Nexon CNG is also going to be included in this list very soon. Tata Motors is preparing to bring the CNG variant of Nexon. The company is already selling Punch, Tiago and Tigor in its lineup in petrol and electric as well as CNG. Nexon CNG will also be the fourth model to come in three types of engine options.
Currently, the company is selling Nexon in petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. After the launch of the CNG variant, it will be the first car in the market that will be available in a total of four types of powertrains with CNG.
Nexon CNG: Power and Transmission
Like other Tata models, twin CNG cylinder technology will be used in Nexon CNG. But unlike other products, Nexon will be provided with a CNG kit along with a turbocharged petrol engine. The standard 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine of Nexon is capable of producing 118 bhp of power and 170 Nm of peak torque.
Talking about the transmission option, Nexon CNG is likely to get a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company can also offer an AMT gearbox with the CNG kit in its higher variants. Therefore, if Tata manages to bring an automatic gearbox with Nexon CNG, it can attract those who want the convenience of automatic transmission along with the affordable price of CNG cars.
Tata Nexon CNG: When will it be launched?
Tata Nexon CNG will enter the Indian market in September 2024. Tata Nexon CNG will compete with Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG in the compact SUV segment. The price of the CNG variant is expected to be Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 higher than its standard model. The mileage of Nexon CNG can be 20-22 km per kg.
