Nina Gupta talks about the permanent success of the Panchayat, and how it has brought up a wave of equal stories installed in small villages.
The fourth season of the panchayat was released on Amazon Prime Video this week amidst much fanfare. Currently, as one of the most popular Indian streaming shows, the panchayat has a permanent impact on modern pop culture, including many ‘imitation’, something that has even accepted by Nena Gupta.
On the success of the panchayat
In a chat with Hindustan Times while promoting panchayat season 4, experienced actors talk about the impact of the show and its footprint on Indian entertainment. Talking about the success of enjoying the panchayat, Nina says, “I could never think it would be so successful. Writing would be good. That is why we all said yes about it. The artists were good and I knew many of them. It was fun. But I never thought it would be such a grand success.”
On ‘chhote gaun ki kahaaniyan’
The panchayat focuses on an MBA-Espire Abhishek (Jitendra Kumar), who has been appointed Panchayat Secretary in Phulera, which is a village in the middle of anywhere. Nina Gupta played the role of Panchayat chief Manju Devi in the show. Talking about the development of stories vested on streaming, Nina says, “This is a golden phase for the actors as well as writers and filmmakers. But now, everyone wants to make a small gon’s kahani (a story from a small village). It happens. Whenever something is successful, everyone makes the same thing.”
Nina says that the entire artist of being in the panchayat is ‘proud’. “We are all like a family here. It is a dress artist where everyone fits and everyone is seen. You cannot ask for more than a show,” she says.
