This move is advised to the affected students and faculty to wait for further updates from the university.
Earlier today, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak announced the cancellation of an MoU with Turkish University, cited Turkish’s stance citing national interest.
Similarly, on 14 May, 2025, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) suspended its MoU with Inonu University, Turkey, citing national security reasons. This aligns with the government’s widespread trend on geopolitical sensitivity.
These cancellations come to connect with diplomatic, trade, and people with Turkey and Azerbaijan amid growing demands from various sectors of Indian society and industry, which are due to their alleged support for Pakistan through arms supply.
Reports suggest that Turkish drones have been used by Pakistani forces, who intervened after India’s recent operation vermilion, which targeted nine terrorist bases. This operation increased tension between India and Pakistan, bringing the two countries close to the all-out struggle amidst increasing nuclear threats from Islamabad.
Calls have also been made to prevent Turkey and Azerbaijan to prevent tourism in protest against their support for Pakistan and refuse to condemn state-provided terrorism. In a patriotic gesture, the travel booking platform makemiTrip has advised users to go to these countries.
