We all know that the aura and energy of Italy can make you feel a lot of things.

Limitless, inspired, awe-inspiring, dreamy, romantic… the list is endless of wanderlust-seeking tourists seeking to make the beautiful coast their own. But did you know that there are some unique feelings that exist on the streets here with proper Italian words? If you want to cosplay as a local citizen for your trip we have a list for you.
Sprezzatura
Definition: ‘The study of carelessness, especially as a distinctive quality or style of art or literature.’
Carelessness may be the keyword of the season, but its negative connotations take an almost enviable turn with this original and unique Italian word. Used especially in the context of one’s style, sprezzatura reflects the art of effortless dressing – a sense of silhouette or aesthetic that looks straightforward, but is put together with great care and precision. After all, every good girl has an origin story.
abioko
Definition: ‘A feeling of drowsiness after a large meal.’
Have you ever put yourself into a coma? The word abioko denotes exactly this. The pasta, pizza, wine and gelato will get you tipsy at some point, no matter how high you’re flying on culture-induced adrenaline. That sweet nap after you’ve had your fill completely feels so good and nice.
little boy
Definition: ‘A ring of water left on the surface by a cold glass.’
What’s Italy without a bittersweet glass of spirit or wine at each stop along the endless promenade lined with wooden tables? Now imagine taking a hearty sip from a sparkling glass, placing it on the table to take your breath away and savor the intoxicating mouthful. Now the glass goes up for your second sip and what do you glimpse at the bottom? The whimsical ring of water left by the glass is leaking onto the table. Yes, there’s a word for it – and honestly? It has a ring to it! After all, this is exactly the kind of thing we imagine romantically in an Italian setting.
Afternoon
Definition: ‘Rest in the shade at noon, especially to avoid the heat of a hot summer afternoon.’
The afternoon nap isn’t a new concept, but it’s certainly unique. Many cities do not go to bed in the middle of the day to be fresh for the colorful evening. But what’s the only right thing to do after a carby meal? Take a nap near the window under filtered sunlight. Whatever is on your itinerary will always be second to this. It’s always a good idea to have smartgear!
Cat
Definition: ‘Refers to a woman who takes care of stray cats, often translated as cat lady.’
We all know Gattara. Maybe you yourself are Gattara. Or maybe you become one as soon as you reach Italy. This is fairly self-explanatory and far broader than the mainstream two-tone meaning of being a ‘cat lady’.
So when is the flight?
