Moscow. A very strong tremor of 7.0 magnitude earthquake has hit the eastern coast of Russia. This earthquake was so strong that it caused an eruption of Shiveluch volcano in Russia. Russian state media TASS has given this information.
According to a report by TASS, a video taken near the volcano on Sunday morning (Russian time) showed a plume of ash rising up to 8 kilometers (5 miles) above the sea level. After this, red hot lava was seen flowing from the volcano.
The volcano is about 280 miles from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a coastal city of about 181,000 in Russia’s eastern region of Kamchatka. There were no reports of casualties from the earthquake and subsequent volcanic eruption, TASS reported.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was about 55 miles from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and its depth was about 30 miles.
TASS says that the possible damage to any buildings due to this earthquake is being investigated. Special attention is being paid to social facilities. However, it also said that no major damage has been caused in this incident.
