A special edition of Vespa scooter has arrived, only 140 units will be made, 140th anniversary is being celebrated.

New Delhi. Vespa is a reputed scooter brand with its presence all over the world. In India too, this Italian company has been present for many decades. The company was present in partnership with local OEMs for a long time. But for the last decade it exists as an independent company. Finally, Vespa’s parent company, Piaggio is celebrating its 140th anniversary globally.

To celebrate this special occasion, Piaggio has launched a special edition model of Vespa. Named ‘Vespa 140th of Piaggio’, only 140 units of this special edition model will be produced globally. Its booking will start on 18th April and will continue till 21st April 2024 for 66 countries. However, no units from India have been reserved.

This special edition Vespa has unique body graphics which make the scooter special. Along with the white paint scheme, the scooter has been given distinct blue accents which give it a sporty and youthful look. This includes ‘140’ branding on the rear fender. A prototype has already been built by the Piaggio Style Centre, which is likely to be displayed at the Vespa World Days 2024 rally to be held between the dates mentioned above.

The overall design reflects the classic Vespa style, with a perfect blend of modern and retro elements. Its styling is inspired by Vespa 300 300 GTV. It features a circular headlamp mounted on the front fender, apron-mounted position lamps with integrated turn indicators, a single-piece racing seat, air fins on the side fenders and blue alloy wheel rims.

Talking about the engine, Vespa 140th edition has a 278cc single cylinder, 4 stroke, 4 valve which gives power of 23.8 bhp at 8,250 rpm and peak torque of 26 Nm at 5.250 rpm. It includes CVT automatic gearbox. Its fuel efficiency is 30.3 km/l. Talking about the features, it has been provided with features like full LED illumination and fully-digital circular instrument panel. Talking about other features, keyless engine start/stop system, traction control, Bluetooth connectivity and anti-lock braking system are included.
