Hyderabad- Asmangarh Palace belonged to an influential rich family of the state “Pagh”. History expert Shafiqur Rahman says that this palace was situated on a high hill at one time, from where the amazing view of the forests was seen. Nizam and his courtiers often used to come here for hunting.
The palace was built in 1885 by Sir Asman Jah, who was the Prime Minister of the state of Hyderabad at that time. Later this palace was presented to Nizam.
A glimpse of unique texture and European style
The glimpse of the Gothic style is clearly visible in the architecture of Asmangarh Palace. This palace is made of granite and makes it specific. The palace is technically not as vast as a “palace”, but its texture appears to be like small forts in Europe, which makes it different from other buildings in Hyderabad.
What is really a tunnel to Golconda?
According to folklore, a tunnel goes from the basement of Asmangarh Palace to Golconda Fort. However, till date no one has seen this tunnel and there is no clear mention of it in the history books. Therefore it can only be considered a mysterious legend.
Historical heritage forgotten
While many buildings in Hyderabad are shining on the tourism map, Asmangarh Palace is being lost in the darkness of oblivion today. This building is not only a historical heritage, but it is also an amazing example of the pride and art of that time, which needs to be saved.
