The European Union has set a standard for charging. In view of this change, there is talk of implementing these rules in other countries as well. Meanwhile, the Indian government is also going to take a big step in standardizing the charging port of mobile devices. It has been learned that from next year 2025, USB C port will be made mandatory for all mobile devices in the country. According to the report, the government has set a deadline for this change.
Under this deadline, all mobile manufacturers in the country will have to include USB-C ports as a default option in their devices. This move will mandate the use of the latest charging technology, making the charging process much easier.

A Livemint report this week cited multiple sources claiming that the deadline for the change has been revised from March 2025 to June 2025. Similar to the European Union’s decision, India also wants USB C to become the standard charging port for mobile devices as well as the cable used to charge smartphones and tablets.

The aim of this decision is to provide a uniform charging solution to the users, so that they will not need different chargers for different devices. Also, this will be beneficial for the environment as it will reduce electronic waste.

This step of the government will provide convenience to the users, and they will also save money by not having to buy separate chargers.
The good thing is that many smartphone brands including Apple have already adopted USB C as a charging standard for their devices. Therefore, it is believed that this change will not pose any challenge for mobile companies.
