The workplace bullying sets a chain reaction that not only affects the victim, but also the victim’s partner.
Universally bullying is considered a harmful effect on mental health. Bulling occurs in various settings from school to workplace. For workplace bullying, as a result does not include just job satisfaction or poor mental health, they also affect sleep.
A study published in the Journal of Interprocession Violence suggests how the workplace’s bullying leads to sleep disturbances and how these disturbances are ‘infectious’ for people around the victims.

Effect of workplace bullying on sleep

The workplace can occur from the bullying colleagues or seniors, resulting in not only bad job satisfaction and mental health issues, but also with the quality of sleep.
A major cause of sleep problems is ‘rumor of anger’. This happens when even after work, they constantly think about negative experiences in their office.
Employees repeated rumors on bullying, which increases tension, causing sleep issues. Mentally and emotionally they still cannot leave the workplace after a painful event, withdraw the emotional load home.
How does it affect their colleagues
This sleep issue is not in isolation; Instead, it is ‘contagious’, also affects its colleagues. When a person has difficulty sleeping due to work stress, his partner may experience a similar problem.
It is caused by repeatedly waking up, tossing and turning at night, and unknowingly wakes up the sleeping partner next to them.
This causes shared exhaustion because the workplace bullying not only affects the victim, but also affects the people around them.
To reduce this issue, researchers recommended targeting the workplace bullying with effective interventions. Companies should prioritize positive workplace relations to reduce emotional loads, which later turn into physical issues such as sleep difficulties.
