Venezuela: A painful news has come out from Venezuela, a country located in the South American continent. There was a sudden noise and collapse in an illegally operated open pit gold mine in central Venezuela. At least 15 people died and 11 others were injured in the gold mine collapse.
According to news agency Reuters, Governor Angel Marcano of the ruling PSUV party told reporters that a landslide of tons of soil and rocks occurred on Tuesday in a rural area of Angostura municipality in Bolivar state and about 770 kilometers southwest of Caracas.

Thousands of miners reportedly work to extract minerals at mine sites in the region, without state regulation. Most of them were outside the government’s surveillance. The accident occurred on Tuesday in the municipality of Angostura, when a wall collapsed in a mine called Bulla Loca, which can only be reached by an hours-long boat ride.
Angostura Mayor Yorgi Arciniega said late Tuesday that he planned to take “about 30 coffins” to a community near the mine. This indicates that officials fear that the death toll could rise into the dozens. Relatives of the miners gathered in La Paraguay, the community closest to the mine, and called on the government to send planes to the remote location to rescue the injured and retrieve the bodies.
Karina Rios, whose daughter’s father was trapped in the accident, said, ‘We are waiting here for the government to help us with helicopters, planes, anything.’ Many people have died there, many people have been injured. Why don’t they support us, where are they? (with AP input)
