Salman Khan’s fitness trainer Rakesh Uddiyar spoke to Live Mint about the actor’s fitness training. In In the interview, dated March 29, 2025, the trainer gave a glimpse of Salman Khan shaping his physique for his last film, Sikandar, which released earlier this year on March 30.

Salman Khan’s fitness routine

Salman moves from one exercise to another without much pause. His workout depends on high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Sharing more details, the trainer said, “We start with one exercise, and he moves on to the next exercise without a break. The only rest he takes is when he moves from one exercise to the next. It’s a very intense workout called HIIT, with no rest in between. He doesn’t do heavy lifting, but focuses on volume training. He’ll drink water in between.”

Since there is a minimal recovery period, Rakesh explains why it works for the actor. According to him, a short walk between exercises provides about 30 seconds of recovery, which he believes is sufficient. This means that rest does not mean that you stand still or sit.

After this, the trainer revealed the actor’s workout duration. Rakesh said, “Salman is original. He believes that your workout should be over within 45 minutes to 1 hour; it is scientifically correct.”

There are some inevitable fitness habits that Salman follows. The actor starts every day with fasted cardio and whenever he gets time, be it during or after shooting, he incorporates his weight training. According to the trainer, it’s not possible to give up cardio or weights, suggesting he ‘can’t sleep’ without it.

Salman Khan’s diet

Next, as for diet, Salman Khan follows a protein-rich diet that complements his intense muscle-building training, consuming five servings of protein daily.

Sharing more details about the actor’s everyday eating habits, his trainer revealed that the actor starts his day with a simple, nutritious breakfast which includes oatmeal, eggs and fruits. Lunch is generally straightforward, consisting of a home-style meal that often includes fish or chicken, reflecting their preference for balanced, familiar meals rather than elaborate or processed options.

Trainor further explained how the actor is cautious when it comes to diet, preferring certain foods over others. Rakesh said, “Salman takes some rice and prefers more vegetables. Salads are his priority. While preparing for an action scene, he starts reducing his food intake two months in advance. Once the shooting is completed, he returns to his normal diet. There is no special diet plan. He is a healthy eater.” He further said that although Salman enjoys cheat meals like biryani, his calorie count never exceeds 2000.
