Uproar over Messi’s Kolkata tour: FIR registered, main organizer arrested; Mamta ordered investigation. today news

After chaos broke out at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday, where thousands of fans protested after failing to get a clear glimpse of Argentine football icon Lionel Messi, the main organizer of the event was detained due to mismanagement, West Bengal Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar said.

Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order Javed Shamim said: “Now the situation is normal. The second part is the investigation; FIR has been registered, and the main organizer has been arrested… I am telling you, they (organizers) are promising that they will refund (the ticket fees to the fans). We will see how it can be done.”

After the protests, the police had to resort to lathicharge, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter.
