OpenAI’s new ChatGPT Group Chats feature will now be made available. Learn how you can have group conversations with friends and family using AI, and how it will work.
New Group Chat feature in OpenAI ChatGPT.OpenAI is continuously working on new features of ChatGPT, and now another new feature has been added to it. The latest feature of ChatGPT is Group Chats. This feature allows users to use ChatGPT with friends, family or colleagues. That means you can have a general conversation with the AI chatbot as well as discuss any project or task in the group.
In ChatGPT any user can create a group chat and invite others. For this you must have a ChatGPT account. There is a facility to add up to 20 users in each group. The person creating the group has to share the name and photo of his profile. All group chats will appear under a new section in the side panel of ChatGPT.
The special part of this feature is that ChatGPT will be a special part of the conversation. Users can activate it by tagging them manually or the AI will automatically respond by understanding the context of the chat.
Responses in chat may be different for different users, such as one user using the Pro version and another using the free version. The user who creates the group can remove other members and can react to AI messages with emojis.
GPT 5.1 Auto: New ChatGPT version
Group Chats will use ChatGPT’s version GPT 5.1 Auto, which selects the smartest model based on the user’s available AI plan. OpenAI claims that GPT 5.1 is smarter and conversational than the earlier GPT 5 version. It’s designed based on user feedback to make conversations more fun and easier.
GPT 5.1 is capable of responding to users in a more intelligent, sensitive and natural way. Its purpose is not only to provide information but also to make the conversation interesting and fun.
OpenAI’s Group Chats feature transforms ChatGPT from just an individual chatbot into a collaborative tool. Now you can not only do questions and answers with friends, family or team with the help of AI, but can also do group projects and discussions. This feature will be available for iOS, web and soon Android users.
