CERT-In issues high risk warning for smartphones running Android 13 and above. Find out which devices are affected and how to secure your phone.
Danger on Android phone. The Indian government’s cyber security agency, CERT-In, has recently issued a serious warning to millions of Android users in the country. The agency said that many vulnerabilities have been found in the Android operating system, taking advantage of which hackers can target your smartphone or tablet. CERT-In’s new advisory (CVIN-2025-0293) states that smartphones and tablets with Android 13 and above operating systems may be affected.
This means that most of today’s devices are exposed to these risks. Affected brands include Samsung, OnePlus, Realme, Redmi, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Motorola. These vulnerabilities mainly relate to chipsets that are made by companies such as Qualcomm, MediaTek, Nvidia, Broadcom and Unisoc.
CERT-In said that hackers can take advantage of these security flaws to control your device, steal data or make changes to the device. Malicious apps or malware can be used in these attacks, which can harm your data. The agency has called it High Risk and has urged all users to update their devices immediately.
How to secure your Android device
- Check the latest Android version by going to your phone’s Settings > About Phone.
- Or check for updates by searching Software Update in Settings.
- If an update is available, download and install it.
- Restart your phone after installing so that all changes can be applied.
Regularly updating software and not downloading suspicious apps is very important for the security of Android users.
