Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, who is all set to bring his next directorial venture ‘Lahore 1947’ starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in lead roles, was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment by a Jamnagar court in a check bounce case. . Rajkumar Santoshi check bounce case
The complainant, Ashok Lal, a leading industrialist and shipping magnate from Jamnagar, claimed that he received 10 checks Total Rs 10 lakh from each film producer 1 crore, which was later bounced.
The businessman’s lawyer in the case, Piyush Bhojani, confirmed the punishment to ANI on Saturday.
According to the advocate, Lal contributed 1 crore to Rajkumar Santoshi’s film.
Santoshi allegedly sent 10 checks to the veteran to repay the money 10 lakh each.
Once the checks were deposited in the bank within the stipulated time frame, they bounced, the businessman alleged, adding that he first tried to get in touch with the filmmaker on the matter.
However, he claimed that all efforts to establish contact with the filmmaker failed following which he filed a suit under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
During the hearing in the case on Saturday, the court ordered Santoshi to be sentenced to two years in jail, and also asked her to repay double the amount to the businessman.

Santoshi’s upcoming film Lahore 1947 is being produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. This project marks the first time collaboration of Sunny Deol, Santoshi and Aamir Khan. The film will also mark the 17th venture under Aamir Khan Productions (AKP).
Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol together previously gave three box office hits – Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak.
