The Government of India has informed that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is now responsible for providing equality to secondary (class 10) and senior secondary (class 12) certificates provided by various school education boards in India. This responsibility is related to student admission for higher education institutions and employment under the Central and State Governments and Center areas.
The Ministry of Education announced that this notification was published by the Department of School Education and Literacy on 6 September 2025 in the e-Gajat. This new notification replaces one from November 15, 2021, which entrusted the responsibility to the association to the Indian universities (AIU). The NCERT National Education Policy 2020 will carry out this task through review and analysis of the national assessment center, performance evaluation, review and knowledge of knowledge.
Under the new system, the NCERT will employ the National Assessment Center, Parak, to ensure that the process of determining the equality is both strong and academically rigid, maintaining the highest educational standards. This system is applied to the Central Government, State Government and Private Indian School Boards which are established by an act of the Parliament or the State Legislature, the Executive Order of the Central or State Governments, or the authorized statutory bodies and recognized institutions to do so.
The equivalence of NCERT will automatically be considered as equality among boards in India, which facilitates smooth transition to students migrating between various school education boards.
“Under the new system, the NCERT will discharge its responsibility through review and analysis for the National Assessment Center, Performance Evaluation, Review and Composite Development, which has been established according to the provisions of the National Education Policy 2020. This institutional system will ensure that equivalent fixation is that equivalent determination is done through a strong and academic process that maintains the highest teaching processes.”
The equivalence given by NCERT will be valid all over India, which will ensure smooth inter-school education board migration for nationwide students.
