Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite Internet Service received licenses from India. According to Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, it has opened the “Next Frontier of connectivity” for India. It comes after Airtel, Jio is forming a team with SpaceX in March to provide internet services to customers.
Scindia held a “productive meeting” with Gwynne Shotwell, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Starlink owner Spacex. Shotwell “appreciated the license to Starlink, called it a great start for the journey”, the minister said on X.
What is Starlink?
Starlink is a satellite-based internet service created by Spacex, American Aerospace and Space Transportation firm, established in 2002 by the world’s richest man Elon Musk. Using satellite technology, it provides high speed, low-altency broadband internet worldwide and is often referred to as broadband from skyse.
This, unlike traditional satellite services, appoints the world’s largest short Earth or Leo Nakshatra (550 km above Earth) which depends on distant georestical satellites.
Starlink launch, which provides high -speed internet uses for remote locations using low Earth -orbit satellites, resenting issues such as hunter pricing and spectrum allocation in India.
Airtel and Jio Participation
In March, India’s two largest telecom providers, namely JIO platforms and its contestant Bharti Airtel announced a partnership with Spacex to offer Starlink Internet services to their customers. However, SpaceX owner Elon Musk and Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, have arisen, who owns the JIO platforms on the method of allocating satellite spectrum.
The deals include selling starlink devices through Jio and Airtel’s retail network, while JIO will also provide customer service, installation and activation support. According to reports, it will emphasize providing high -speed internet to businesses, health centers, schools and remote communities across India.
NDTV quoted Reliance Jio’s Group CEO Matthew Omen as saying, “Our cooperation with SpaceX to bring Starlink into India strengthens our commitment and takes a transformative step towards the seamless broadband connectivity for all.” Airtel Managing Director and Vice President Gopal Vittal said, “Working with SpaceX to offer Starlink to Airtel customers in India is an important milestone.”
Although Musk’s commercial appearance in India is currently limited to X, their electric vehicle company, Tesla, is ready to enter the Indian market.
